Magnetic Separation Overview


Magnetic separation is also called magnetic concentration and its working principle is to eliminate magnetic impurity from materials with magnetic force. Magnetic separation equipment works based on the different magnetism among different ores or materials.

SBM magnetic separation equipment uses magnetic and other force to select. Usually, materials that would get eliminated can be divided into four kinds according to their magnetic susceptibility X: 1. strongly magnetic minerals: X>3000×10-9m3/kg, such as magnetite, titanomagnetite and huang magnetite, etc. 2. Middle magnetic minerals: x=(600~3000)×10-9m3/kg, such as titanic iron ore, false and partially false hematite, etc. 3. Low intensity magnetic minerals: x=(15~600)×10-9m3/kg, such as hematite, specular iron ore, chalybite, limonite, manganese black, psliomelane and wolframite, etc. 4. Non magnetic ores: x<15×10-9m3/kg, such as scheelite, quartz, feldspar, fluorite, gold ore and fluorspar, etc.

Magnetic separation equipment working principle and magnetic separation process


The magnetic separation process of magnetic separation equipments works like this: ore materials for selection should get crushed firstly. Then the powdered ores for separation get sent into the cavity of magnetic separation equipment. Then these materials will get forces, like gravity, centrifugal force, friction force or medium resistance, act on and separate into different masses. Magnetic separation is the most widely used mineral separation method.

Magnetic separation method and different kind of magnetic separation equipment


There are all kinds of magnetic separation equipment and magnetic concentration equipment is usually divided into different kinds according to their power of magnetic field, actuating medium and design features. The most often method is by the power of magnetic field, in which way that magnetic separation equipments are divided into three kinds. 1. Low intensity field magnetic separation equipment: the magnetic field intensity in them is (0.6~1.6)×105A/m and this kind of magnetic separation equipment mainly process ferromagnetic ores. 2. Middle intensity field magnetic separation equipment: the magnetic field intensity in them is (1.6~4.8)×105A/m and this kind of magnetic separation equipment mainly process middle magnetic ores. 3. Intense magnetic field magnetic separation equipment: the magnetic field intensity in them is (4.8~20.8)×105A/m and this kind of magnetic separation equipment mainly process low magnetic ores.
